Good photography needs no words. A picture can be beautiful and emotional, traumatic and have thousand things in between. It can tell different stories without any words spoken. Through a picture, you can be motivated, change the way you think about things around you or can provoke a range of emotions and feelings. I believe it can, like I wrote in Love At First Sight, the portrait drove me to my passion.
Good picture creates an atmosphere that humans want to invoke themselves in and be part of it. The power pictures have over human minds can affect how they see themselves, the world around them and enhance the likelihood that they will take certain actions to stay cohesive with their identity.
“The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.”
– Elliott Erwitt
At first, I didn’t believe the saying ‘A Picture Tells A Thousand Words’ till I found my passion in photography and understood what it meant then saw Kgomotso Neto’s work on Instagram, through his pictures I could see the message he is trying to convey, the emotions his showing and the essence of the picture. Mostly I am motivated by the fact that he finds beauty in everything he captures.
